Full Stack Software Engineer
Biobot Analytics
- Software Development
- Remote
- United States
- $150K - $180K
About the Role
Our mission is to transform wastewater infrastructure into public health observatories. Biobot Analytics is a wastewater epidemiology company and uses technology developed at MIT to measure human health in sewage (based on what is excreted in urine and stool) to understand population health in cities. We first launched an opioid product to support government and public health officials in responding to the opioid epidemic, and have recently launched a Covid19 product to estimate the scope of the outbreak in communities. We are operating in almost 400 communities across 42 states, and generating Covid19 case estimates for over 10% of the U.S. population.
Skills: React, PostgreSQL, Amazon Web Services (AWS)We are looking for a full-stack software engineer who is excited about working on science-focused public health products, with experience building robust and efficient APIs, and a keen eye for UX principles. You will be part of a small but dedicated engineering team seeking to make wastewater intelligence data valuable across the healthcare industry.
Our tech stack includes:
- Frontend: React, Ant Design, Visx/D3
- Backend: Node (TypeScript), PostgreSQL, Snowflake
- Infrastructure: AWS Suite, GitLab CI
- Tooling: terraform, Turborepo, esbuild
Expertise with all of the above technologies is not necessary, but working knowledge of at least a few is required. An ideal candidate will have experience building data visualizations and the infrastructure to support them.
What you will do:
- Write, review and maintain code written in modern TypeScript.
- Build secure and efficient APIs to give customers automated access to their data.
- Work with our data team to integrate new datasets and ML models into the Biobot data platform.
- Help establish and improve development workflows and automation tools
- Build interactive visualizations to help customers better understand local and national wastewater data and trends.
- Occasional DevOps work. We do not have a dedicated DevOps or SRE team, so engineers will have to help with infrastructure work.
Physical Requirements and Special Demands:
- Required standing or sitting for several hours straight at a time.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone and video conferencing for several hours each day.
Employment Eligibility
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. We welcome applicants who may need sponsorship down the line.
Our Benefits
Health Coverage
Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families, including a $0 deductible medical plan. We want our employees to protect their health and that of their families.
Self Care
Unlimited PTO with 3 week minimum. Whether it’s playing MTG or D&D, singing on stage, camping, raising chickens, or anything else that inspires, we want our employees to unplug and explore their passions.
Biobabies
12 weeks parental leave at 100% pay. We know that bonding with a new child is a critical need for employees and Biobabies alike.
Remote-first
You will be part of a tight and talented team distributed in the U.S.
